A Personal Story
SIFF was founded by Scott Fong whose background has been in the Financial Services Industry for over 10 years.
The idea for the company was born after Scott bought his first investment property in 2001. It was a 4 unit building in a quiet area out of state. Finding real estate partners wasn’t very difficult, however, finding great real estate partners with the experience and skills necessary to truly help Scott succeed was challenging. What he found was a random process with many inefficiencies.
After Scott’s first experience buying an Investment Property, he was very surprised with how much of the due diligence was up to him when finding the right real estate partners. He also found there was no accountability or anyone to manage all of the parties involved. In addition, after the closing there was no one to give Scott advice on how well the property was performing and no one to make recommendations whether to hold, sell, refinance, exchange…etc
Financial Planners are paid to give ongoing advice and review statements on your returns. Traditionally, in Real Estate once the transaction closes, you are on your own. There wasn’t a Real Estate Advisor to turn to. All he received were postcards in the mail to buy more real estate or notifications someone might be interested in buying his 4 plex. This is when the idea of SIFF Investment Services started in 2003.
